The Saucy Milliner Heads to the Melbourne Cup! Sort of.

How thrilling to have been asked to design and build a head piece that will be worn by a local Vancouver lady who is going to Australia to attend the prestigious Melbourne Cup! After a consultation with my client we decided on a floral themed piece that would be made of sinamay – a gauzy, woven abaca fiber that is very sculptural to work with and appropriate for the summer weather that she would be heading to.  Doesn’t she look stunning?  The headpiece is attached to a sinamay disc base, which I made using a matching olive green to the leaf color and attaches to her head via a discreet elastic which slides under her hair. I love how this piece of sculptural head art  turned out  and I am so excited to have a creation at such a millinery-centric event.  Thank you, T, for the opportunity to create this for you!

Thanks to my fab photographer, Miss Abbye Dahl of www.afoto.ca.

Bespoke pieces start at $300, as pictured $550
