A Saucy Belle! Once Upon A Time Season 3 Finale Features my Deco Cloche!
It was a wonderful surprise to see one of my hats being featured as part of such a wonderful costume and scene on Sunday’s season three finale of ABC’s Once Upon A Time.
Belle’s whole outfit was postively romantic and in line with her classic, aesthetic. I’ve been coveting her wardrobe ever since she got out of her hospital gown and into all those cute frocks and skirts and blouses, in Season One.
My 'Deco Cloche' in Winter White, as seen on Belle in 'Once Upon A Time'.
I made this romantic, ‘Deco Cloche’, using a very high quality millinery fur felt (shown here in Winter White) which I hand form over an antique 1920’s wooden hat form, and I trimmed it with a soft, draping hat band and bow, which sits on the longer side of the asymmetrical brim. This is a tight-to-the-head fitting cloche, also called a helmut cloche, and it’s asymmetrical quality makes it a very becoming and feminine design. There is a reason that the cloche hat has transcended decades of different hat trends – it’s a highly romantic and flattering silhouette. I daresay this piece in particular would look just at home in Downtown Abbey as it would in Storybrook.
Huge appreciation and thanks to Eduardo Castro and his fabulously talented team in the Costumes Department for choosing to top Belle’s beautiful wedding outfit in the season’s finale!

The 'Deco Cloche' in Winter White. I might have to rename it, 'Belle's Bell' - which of course is what 'cloche' means in French.
Tribe Saucy! I'm in a vintage felt 'Clara Cloche' in wine, and Blue Fairy actress, Keegan Connor Tracy wears the 'Deco Cloche' with a slightly different trim (narrower ribbon). Yes, this is how we roll - look out, Lady Mary, you've got some serious style competition in Vancouver! Also pictured here are Rachelle Cashato of The Granville Island Hat Shop, in my black 'Ingrid' hat, Singer Jill Barber in her Loden Green 'Mint Chocolate' hat (one of my most beloved designs!) and Miss Roberta C, also of OUAT, in a custom Saucy Milliner 40's style fedora. What a sassy bunch! <3
